New preseason meeting set for high school fall sports

A preseason meeting for high school fall sports is being held on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Gilson Gymnasium. Parents and athletes involved in football, volleyball and cheerleading are encouraged to attend.

A bus for athletes and parents is going to be providing transportation for Lind families, leaving from Lind High School at 6 p.m.

Beginning this year, LRS sports teams are having preseason meetings for the fall, winter and spring sports seasons.

The purpose of the meeting is to inform the parents and athletes about the upcoming season and to help the season off to a smooth start.

Athletic director, Greg Whitmore, stresses the importance of having athletes and at least one parent in attendance at the meetings.

At the fall meeting, the athletic secretaries will have tables set up and in the course of the meeting the department plans to have athletes turn in paperwork, pay fees, introduce coaches and administrators, answer questions regarding the athletic code and transportation policy, hand out practice and game schedules, and have a team and parent meeting specific for football and volleyball.

Middle school athletes can also pick up and turn in paperwork and pay fees this night.

Middle school football begins Aug. 23 and volleyball begins Aug. 27.
