During the regular school board meeting on Monday, July 23, the Lind and Ritzville school boards unanimously approved a capital levy to be put on the November general election ballot. The funds received from the levy are going to be combined with funds raised by the Project 56 committee to complete the all-weather track at Ritzville High School.
The Project 56 has agreed to donate $130,000 to fund the cost for the transformation of the facility. The two-year capital levy is set charging $.66 per thousand for taxpayers, raising roughly $195,000 a year.
The total estimated cost of the project is $507,000, which includes the installation of a sprinkler system on the football field and fencing around the facility. The cost is an estimated total for completion in May 2014.
The capital levy appears on citizens general election ballot in November and is a 50 percent plus one vote to pass. The Project 56 committee is continuing to fundraise to help the school with the project.
