Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Wheat Land Communities’ Fair is fast approaching and so is the deadline for 4-H record books. Members entering 4-H record books need to have them turned in by 4 p.m., on Aug. 15 to the Washington State University (WSU) Extension office, in the Adams County Courthouse located at 210 West Broadway in Ritzville.
The books are judged prior to the start of the fair and displayed in the 4-H department, in the main exhibit building. Record books that are turned in after this date are evaluated and receive a participation ribbon.
Applications for the County Gold Medal Awards should be completed at the time the books are turned in, as both are judged simultaneously. Gold Medal Awards are presented at the Achievement Program in October.
Some 4-H clubs require their members to enter their record books in the fair. Check with club leaders to learn what the club requires for record keeping. Tips on how to complete the record book are available at the WSU Extension office. For questions, contact the WSU Extension at 659-3209 or Alice Weber at 349-2992.
Also due Aug. 15 are entry forms for Fashion Review/My Favorite Outfit and Demonstrations. These forms may be found in the fair premium book and sent to Carla Jerue.
Copies of the fair premium book can be obtained at The Ritzville Adams County Journal office or by contacting a fair board member.
