Emergency haying and grazing for CRP

On July 23, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced that because of the current severe drought, all counties, including Adams County, with a drought level of D0 or higher are approved for emergency haying and grazing outside of the primary nesting season.

Producers who wish to use their Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acreage for emergency haying and grazing must contact the Adams County Farm Service Agency (FSA) office.

Emergency haying may be conducted until Aug. 31, and emergency grazing may be conducted until Sept. 30. A 10 percent payment reduction applies for any CRP contract that utilizes the emergency haying and grazing period.

For questions or interest in applying for the emergency haying or grazing, contact the Adams County FSA office at 509-659-1761.
