May 5, 7:18 p.m. – While traveling southbound on Hwy 395, Deputy Ned Bernath observed a vehicle traveling 100 plus miles per hour. Driver plus one passenger in the vehicle. Dep. Bernath arrested, cited and released driver.
May 5, 3:07 p.m. – Deputy Aaron Madison assisted state patrol with a multiple vehicle injury collision at a location on South Hwy 395 northbound, near Lind.
May 5, 1:30 p.m. – Adams County Jail requested agency assistance with an inmate who had a medical issue. Sergeant Stacy Flynn responded.
May 5, 12:52 p.m. – Complainant from Curlew advised they were forced off the road by the mail car near North Sage Road, Ritzville. Deputy Madison contacted the complainant who advised they wanted to inform the Sheriff’s department of the matter. The mail car was driving poorly and not paying attention.
May 5, 7:45 a.m. – Washington State DOT advised of a vehicle in the ditch and a male subject sleeping in the vehicle at a location on South Austin Road, Washtucna. Deputy Madison contacted the subject who has having medical issues and was transported to the Ritzville hospital by ambulance.
May 4, 10:35 p.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Bernath located a subject on South Highway 21 that was out of gas. Dep. Bernath contacted a local farmer and bought gas for the subject and cleared the scene.
May 4, 9:53 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a subject hitchhiking near their residence on South Highway 21. Deputy Bernath contacted the complainant at their residence. By this time the hitchhiker had passed by the house without problems. Dep. Bernath notified WSP of the hitchhiker.
May 4, 3:45 p.m. – Hooper complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle and subjects loading scrap metal at a location on East Stark Road, Washtucna. Deputy Madison checked the area and was unable to located the vehicle or the subjects.
May 4, 2:45 p.m. – WSP Trooper Matt Fehler requested agency assistance at milepost 206 on eastbound I-90. Before Deputies Dan Verhey and Madison arrived on scene they were advised to disregard.
May 3, 6:58 p.m. – Washtucna complainant advised of a burglary in progress at a location on North Main Street. Deputy Bernath responded along with Trooper Shawn Pichette.
May 3, 5:54 p.m. – Odessa complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle parked near East Rosenoff Road and North Lauer Road, Ritzville. Sheriff’s deputy contacted the vehicle and was able to locate a phone number for the owner’s father. Deputy contacted the father and was advised that the owner parked the vehicle there to get a ride to Moses Lake. Father further advised that the vehicle will be removed when she returns. The vehicle was legally parked and not a traffic hazard, deputy cleared from the scene.
May 3, 10:53 a.m. – Lind complainant reported receiving a phone solicitor who advised they would fix the complainant’s computer problems. Complainant allowed access to her computer. When it came time to pay for the service, the complainant’s Visa card would not run. Complainant did provide the company with their Visa information. Complainant further advised they looked up the company and believes they are fraudulent. Complainant has put a stop on their Visa but wanted to report the fraud. The company name is Creative Solutions online. At this time no money had been taken from complainant.
May 3, 9:21 a.m. – While on patrol Deputy Verhey located a small sinkhole at a location on North Wahl Road and East Gering Road, Ritzville. Dep. Verhey sent an email to Public Works regarding the hole.
May 2, 8:29 p.m. – Deputy Bernath received a call of an assault at a location on West Third Street, Lind. Dep. Bernath contacted the subjects involved and generated a report.
May 2, 2:59 p.m. – Lind complainant observed a listed subject hauling a load of scrap metal in the area of East Franz Road and North Neilson Road. Prior to responding the complainant called back and advised they spoke with the subject and they were authorized to be moving the scrap. Deputy Verhey called the complainant to confirm the information.
May 2, 1:55 p.m. – Lind complainant reported during the month of April a male subjects Apple store account was used by an unauthorized person. Complainant had reported the fraud to Apple and they advised them to call the local police. Deputy Verhey collected the Apple store’s contact information and sent a request via email for the account information.
May 2, 9:16 a.m. – Complainant out of Moses Lake notified the Sheriffs Office of an assault on an eight-year-old child at the baseball field on May 1, in Lind. The suspect grabbed the eight-year-old and pulled them back about one foot. Deputy Verhey made contact with the subjects involved. A message was left on Sergeant Brian Taylor’s cell phone. On May 3, Dep. Verhey attempted to call the victims mother to get information on the case, upon no answer Dep. Verhey left a message.
May 2, 8:46 a.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Verhey observed there was no yield sign for the northbound traffic approaching the intersection at East Harder Road and North Lauer Road, Lind. An email was sent to Public Works to identify the issue.
May 1, 8:20 p.m. – Dispatch received a suspicious hang up call from a residence on East Hatton Road, Lind. Deputy Jeffrey Lane contacted the house and all was fine, appears to be an ongoing problem. The house phones are not plugged in. If we receive another call, try the cell phone first.
May 1, 7:53 p.m. – Ritzville complainant reported a suspicious vehicle with a load of tires on North Highway 21 near North Lind-Hatton Road. Complainant felt the subject may be looking to dump the tires. Deputy Lane contacted the driver of the vehicle who was broke down and had assistance enroute.
May 1, 1:56 p.m. – Lind complainant reported seeing a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the roadway near North Lind-Hatton Road, with scrap metal in the back of their truck, complainant believed the metal might be stolen. Adams County units stopped the vehicle and found the metal had been taken from property in the area. The previous property owner had given the subjects permission to take the metal but did not have the right to give the metal away. The current property owner asked that the subjects be warned to not come back on the property, no charges were pressed.
May 1, 10:52 a.m. – While on patrol, Deputy Verhey contacted WSP Trooper Dustin Stephan at a location on East Schoessler Road and East I-90 eastbound. Trooper Stephan contacted the listed male for walking on I-90. The male subject advised his vehicle had broken down on I-90. The listed male pointed to a nearby residence and identified a friend that lives there, report generated to notify others of the subjects presence in the area.
May 1, 8:45 a.m. – While on patrol Deputy Verhey observed the “Dead End Ahead” warning sign was down near East Weber Road, Ritzville. Dispatch sent an e-mail to advise public works of the sign.
April 30, 3:42 p.m. – Ritzville complainant reported an abandoned vehicle on East Providence Road, Washtucna. Sergeant Flynn drove through the area and vehicle was gone upon arrival.
April 30, 1:32 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a strong odor of rotting flesh in the area of North Deal Road. Deputy Verhey observed the odor that was isolated around the complainants’ house but not inside nor in other places of the property. Dep. Verhey assisted the complainant in looking for the location of the odor. At this time Dep. Verhey and the complainant were unable to find the odors origination point. The complainant was advised to call back if they located anything suspicious.
April 30, 9:05 a.m. – Deputy Verhey advised the “prepare to stop” sign at East Highway 26, had been pushed over and was about to fall. Dispatch sent an e-mail to the Adams County Road Department regarding the situation.
April 29, 5:47 p.m. – A complainant from Odessa advised of an unattended death on North Damon Road, Deputy Madison made contact.
April 29, 4:30 p.m. – Deputy Bernath contacted a subject in reference to a fire in their garbage pit on North Hills Road, Ritzville. The fire appeared to be burning and smoldering under the soil. There was no signs that suggested fire had been set and more then likely combusted under the ground as there had been numerous items thrown in and covered including old hay. Dep. Bernath called for the fire department to put out the smoldering debris.
April 29, 1:04 p.m. – While on patrol Deputy Lane found an open door at the school on North E Street in Lind. Dep. Lane contacted responsible, arrived on scene, did not believe a check of the premises was necessary and the door was secured.
