Hospital board to consider two CEO finalists

The board of commissioners will consider the top two candidates for the position of CEO for Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 during a meeting on Tuesday, June 19.

The board’s regular meeting was moved from June 28 to June 19 due to scheduling conflicts.

Interim administrator Gary Peck said the district spent more than two months advertising and searching for candidates for the CEO job. He said 10 people applied for the position. After screening by the staff, two candidates were sent to the search committee to be interviewed. The search committee included two members of the board and three citizens. The citizens are David Bake, Kris Schwisow and Charles Sackmann.

Peck said the hospital district has completed its reference checks of both candidates and that each of the commissioners has had an opportunity to meet the top prospects.

During the June 19 meeting, it is likely that the commissioners will discuss the two candidates in executive session, which is allowed by state law. Following the executive session, if the commissioners elect to do so, they could vote to name their preferred candidate, which would make it possible for them to enter into potential contract negotiations.

“I never would have believed we would have had this caliber of candidates for this position,” Peck said. “I’m pleased and surprised.”

The district has not officially named the two candidates, but Peck said both are experienced and well suited for the position.

Chairman Stacey Plummer said she the district and the search committee have worked hard to find viable candidates. She said she was pleased with the effort.

“I’m very happy with the two finalists,” she said. “They have a lot of experience and leadership. We’re very fortunate to have them as candidates.”
