Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Three local businesses have joined together to host a Grateful to be Alive Block Party on Railroad Avenue on June 29 from 4-8 p.m. Hometown Family Medicine, Ritzville Drug Company and The Ritzville Adams County Journal had all been attempting to have a customer appreciation party and decided to combine their resources.
In addition to honoring customers, the Block Party serves as a celebration of life and health. Donations collected during the Block Party are immediately given to Relay For Life and serve as a fundraiser for the Ritzville teams.
During the regular meeting last week, the Ritzville City Council approved the street closer for Railroad Avenue from noon until 9 p.m. on the day of the event. Coordinators of the event chose to host the event on Railroad Avenue in hopes of not interfering with the regular business hours of the majority of downtown businesses.
Entertainment, activities and food are all provided free during the event, with donations encouraged. Past graduate of Ritzville High School, Garrett Lee Bartley, is providing live entertainment throughout the entire event.
Mike Telecky will be preparing a variety of barbequed foods for all ages to enjoy.
A wide selection of youth games and activities have been planned and include: Duck Pond, Fishing Game, Prize Wheel, Sponge Throw, Chalk Art, Face Painting and Balloon Pop. Prizes are awarded to youth participants at each of the games.
The event serves as an opportunity for community members and customers to celebrate healthy lifestyles and enjoy an evening of entertainment.
