Gerald (Jerry Joe) Seubert died May 27, in Ritzville, where he had lived for the past 10 months.
Born April 27, 1958, to Henry G. (Hank) Seubert and Irene (Funke) Seubert of Cottonwood, Idaho, he was the youngest of eight children.
He graduated from Prairie High School in Cottonwood in 1976, having excelled in sports all the way through school. He was an avid fisherman and hunter until the past two or three years when his health began to decline. One of his greatest joys was taking his many nephews and nieces, and anyone else that wanted to go, along on his fishing trips. For a time, he had a jet boat and would take family and friends on excursions on the Salmon and Snake Rivers. He usually had one of a long line of dogs with him wherever he went. Many of his friends knew him by the nickname, “Jerzey.”
He had recently attained a life-long dream: he got his Harley. Most of his work history was in logging and heavy construction, mostly based in north-central Idaho. He lived for many years in the Lewiston area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Irene; his eldest sister Carole Holtzclaw, a brother Bill Seubert, a nephew Ken Haldane Jr. and a niece, (his goddaughter) Bethany Bowman.
He is survived by his fiancé Robin Wright; her three sons and grandchildren, whom he loved like his own, a brother, Edwin (Judy) Seubert of Lewiston, Idaho; four sisters, Elaine (Marvin) Kinzer, Clarkston, Irma Haldane, Agoura Hills, Calif., Christy (Phil) Bowman, Ritzville, and Betty (Lewis) McArthur, Post Falls, Idaho; two step-children, Ben and Jennifer Ash and three generations of nephews and nieces.
Services are planned for Saturday, June 2 at 1 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ritzville. Another memorial service is to be held at the AWANA Club in the Lewis-Clark Valley on June 9.
Memorials and donations to defray funeral costs may be made in care of Danekas Funeral Home, 207 E. Main, Ritzville, WA 99169.
