Aging & Adult Care of Central Washington is distributing vouchers for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program in June. Voucher distribution is on a first come, first serve basis.
This program helps to increase the number of fresh fruits and fresh vegetables to low income seniors. Individuals must be at least 60 years of age and meet income guidelines.
For one person, the income must be under $1,723 per month or $20,665 yearly.
For a two-person income, it must under $2,333 per month or $27,991 yearly. Tribal Members must be at least 55-years-old and meet the income guidelines.
All seniors must bring picture identification to verify their age but income verification is not required.
Each qualifying senior has the opportunity to receive $40 in vouchers, valid in June through October 2012. These vouchers may be used at any participating Farmers’ Markets in Washington State to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables and honey.
On June 8, Othello Senior Center and the Warden Senior Center are hosting the nutrition program. The hours for the Othello Senior Center are 10-11:45 a.m. and the center is located at 755 North Seventh Street. Warden Senior Center hours are 1:30-3 p.m. and the center is located at 115 Oak Street.
The Moses Lake Senior Center is offering the program on June 13, from 1-3 p.m. The senior center is located at 608 East Third Street.
On June 28, the Davenport Senior Center is hosting the nutrition program from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The center is located 728 Morgan Street.
The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and Washington State.
