Little League Day set for Saturday

The Ritzville Little League is set to host the second annual Ritzville Little League Day on Saturday, May 12. The event starts at 10 a.m. for team and individual pictures and everyone is invited to attend.

Pictures are to be taken at the playground, across from the Little League Park. It is requested that team members arrive 15-minutes prior to their scheduled time.

A radar gun contest is held at the batting cage area where ball players can guess individual ball speeds, winning t-shirt prizes.

The first games of the day are between Ritzville Pre Mix and Zips on the t-ball field and Ritzville Parts House plays against Snider/Avista on the majors field, both games are schedule from 11-11:45 a.m.

A tire-throwing contest for the four to six year olds begins on the majors field from 11:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. with t-shirt prizes awarded to the winners.

A barbecue lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Hamburgers and hot dogs are served for a donation.

Afternoon games begin at noon, with Lincoln Paintball versus McDonald Zaring on the majors field and Best Western facing Leffel, Otis and Warwick on the t-ball field.

The second tire-throwing contest, scheduled for the 10 to 12-year-olds, is scheduled from 12:45-1 p.m. at the majors field.

T-ball winners play on majors field from 1-1:45 p.m.

The first home-run derby begins at 1 p.m. on the t-ball field for the 10-12 year olds. Trophies are presented to the winners in each age group.

The final tire-throwing contest is for the seven to nine-year-olds and is at the majors field from 1:45-2 p.m.

The t-ball field is the sight of the four-to nine-year-olds home run derby. It begins at 2 p.m. and trophies are presented to the winners for each age group.

The final game of the day begins at 2 p.m. where Connell Oil plays Ritzville Warehouse. Pitchers will pitch against own team and home run derby winners are to be announced between innings.

Everyone, especially grandparents, friends and family members, are invited to come down to the Ritzville Little League Park, bring lawn chairs, and support our little leaguers as they kick off their season.
