Phillips earns agricultural award

Palmer Phillips, a senior at Ritzville High School, received the 2012 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award during the Ritzville FFA banquet on April 26. The Monsanto Company sponsors the award.

Phillips is the son of Reid and Shannon Phillips and received the award for his accomplishment in academics, leadership and agriculture work experience. Among Phillips’ achievements are the first year member award, rituals, Ag mechanics, livestock judging, soil judging, Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) projects, and he has held chapter officers, including president, the position he retired from during the banquet.

The DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award is celebrating its 65th anniversary and in those years, has given the award to over 168,000 high school seniors from across the country. In 2011, over 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the Award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor.

Phillips received a permanent plaque to honor his achievement during the Ritzville FFA banquet. The plaque is to be displayed at Ritzville High School.
