“Their pitcher was really keeping us off balance,” head coach Jason Aldrich said. “We finally broke through in the sixth.”
Dylan Hartz got things started with a single. Bryson O’Neill was hit by a pitch. With two runners on base, Hayes belted a two-run triple.
After a pitching change, Jake Dewald got on to give the Broncos two base runners.
Jesse Miller would get the job done with a bloop single in front of the rightfielder.
Defensively, Johnny Hernandez turned a double play in the sixth to take a chance away from the Indians. Miller also made a couple of nice catches in the seventh.
In the first game Dewald took the mound, and was a bit shaky in the first inning giving up two runs before settling in and silencing the Indians. Hartz came on in relief and retired two batters for the win. Dewald finished with four strike outs and one walk, giving up six hits.
Palmer Phillips was hot with the bat, going three for four with three RBIs. Hayes was two for three with four RBIs.
