Sheriff Posse sponsors poker ride

The Adams County Sheriff Posse is sponsoring a Poker Ride fundraiser on Saturday, April 28 at the Bar U Ranch in Washtucna. All funds from the event are used for the purchase of new equipment for Adams County Sheriff Posse, Search and Rescue.

All riders must be pre-registered by April 28. The first rider on the ride leaves at 9 a.m. and the last rider leaves by 12 p.m. with an estimated ride time between three and four hours.

For riders who pre-register by April 21, the cost is $10 per rider, which includes one poker hand, and $5 for each additional poker hand. Riders that register from April 21-28, the cost is $15 per rider, which includes one poker hand, and $5 for each additional poker hand.

All riders 17-years-old or younger ride for free but must also register for the event. Riders are only allowed on rider per horse, with no exceptions allowed.

The prizes for the even include a $100 gift certificate for the best hand, $75 gift certificate for the second best hand, $50 for lowball and numerous other door prizes.

Safety rules for the event are one horse per rider, all riders must sign a liability release, ride at a safe distance, be courteous when passing other riders, no running horses, no alcoholic beverages on the trail, no stallions, no dogs, no littering and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Range Riders 4-H group is providing hot dogs, salads, pop and water at the event. The cost per plate is $4.

Pre-registration for the event is non-refundable. All checks can be made payable to Adams County Sheriff Posse and checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 2882, Othello, WA 99344.
