Getting from one side of the tracks to the other in Ritzville will be a bit more challenging for the next week even when there are not any trains. Crews from Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) began work Wednesday on the crossings at Adams and Division Streets. Both crossings are expected to be closed until Thursday April 19, as crews make improvements.
The City of Ritzville are also tackling a project at the Adams Street railroad crossing at the same time. Public Works Director Larry Swift said crews are replacing a damaged water main that travels under the track. The water main has been leaking for several years, according to Swift.
