Cleo B. David

Cleo B. David, Spokane, died Friday, March 23, after celebrating her 95th birthday two days earlier.

She was born outside of Beulah, N.D., to George O. and Effie Belle (Turner) Endreson.

She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Beulah High School in 1936. She earned a teaching certificate after two years at Dickenson State Teacher’s College, later receiving a life teaching certificate.

She taught at four schools in North Dakota, during which she was engaged to her high school sweetheart, Gale David.

They were married in Bremerton on June 28, 1942, while Gale was stationed at Fort Worden. She was employed as a telephone operator in Port Angeles and later in Brownwood, Texas, when her husband was transferred.

The couple moved to Spokane in 1946. They were members of Manito United Methodist Church since 1946 and she was active in United Methodist Women group. They taught Sunday school and led the youth group Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) for many years. They also were members of Elderberries.

They were members of two senior bowling leagues.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, RV camping and visiting in the western states and Canada. She also was a Camp Fire Girls leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale, in 2004; a sister, Lorraine Elliott; and two brothers, Roger and George Endreson Jr.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lavonne (Don) Saunders of Ritzville, and Mellody (Maurice) Descoteaux of Medical Lake; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Saunders and Raquel Descoteaux.

Graveside interment is Tuesday, Apr. 10, at 9:30 a.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens. A memorial service begins at 11 a.m. at Manito United Methodist Church, followed by a reception.
