Micheala Doyle completed her senior project of collecting eyeglasses on March 2, ending her project with five times the amount she thought she would collect. Doyle collected 161 pairs of eyeglasses in the first month of the project and another 94 pairs of glasses were donated during the second month.
Finishing the project with 255 pairs of eyeglasses, Doyle is overjoyed with the total outcome of the event. Doyle packaged all of the donated eyeglasses to be sent by the Lind Lions Club to Olympia later this week.
“It’s nice to have the chance to help so many people,” said Doyle. “I got a lot of kids glasses during the last collection time.”
During the first collection month, Doyle received a majority of adult eyeglasses with very few children’s pairs. A goal for her collection during the second month of the project was that the donations would include more children’s glasses.
With the collection portion of the project complete, Doyle needs to finish the write-up segment of the project. Doyle has to build a Powerpoint presentation and then presents the project while giving a speech to the senior project committee.
After each Lind High School senior completes their senior project, they have to give a presentation to a panel of judges, a group of students, teachers and their families. The students can invite their family members to attend the presentation and the only anonymous people at the presentation are the judges.
Doyle presents her senior project in April and is looking forward to the presentation because she likes public speaking. Doyle also is excited the project turned out to be so successful, because it adds energy and positivity to her presentation and final project.
