Scholarship deadlines approaching

The deadline for applying for the David L. and Frances G. Ray Scholarship sponsored by the Ralston and Rimrock Granges, is Apr. 1. Up to $3,000 is available to high school seniors, home-schooled graduating seniors or graduates from the Ritzville, Washtucna, Lind, LaCrosse, Kahlotus, Connell, Odessa or Christian Heritage school districts. Applicants do not need to be Grange members, but in addition to these qualified districts, any senior who is a descendant of a current Ralston and Rimrock Grange member outside of these districts may also apply.

These scholarships are funded by Ralston Grange member, Gerald Ray, and managed by the Inland Northwest Community Foundation. Applications may be found at their website, www.inwcf.org.

Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and good citizenship. The Ray Scholarship has been established to assist qualified students in furthering their education while promoting the involvement of community members in the Ralston and Rimrock Granges.

The Marie Snyder Memorial Scholarship is available to seniors at Washtucna or Kahlotus schools, or members of the Ralston Grange. Marie Snyder was an active member of the Ralston Grange, serving as secretary for many years and taught school at Washtucna and Kahlotus.

Applications for this scholarship are available at the Washington State Grange website, www.wa-grange.org. A number of other scholarships are also available on this site, some require Grange membership, but most are open to non-member children of Grange members.

Deadlines for these scholarships are also Apr. 1. For more information on any of these scholarships, contact Randy Roth at 659-0893.
