On Mar. 8, the annual Bi-County Academic Contest will be held in Reardan. The Ritzville students have been working hard. They will be competing in speech with impromptu, interpretive, and persuasive speeches. This year the eighth graders will be competing in Geography, along with the fifth through seventh graders. Students in third through eighth grades all compete in spelling. Math is the other area students will be competing in. This year the students are very excited. They hope to bring home more first place ribbons!

Dennis Greenwalt, from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), came to the Ritzville Grade School to award Holly Nygren, an eighth grader, a certificate and some prize money. Nygren placed first in Ritzville, as well as District competition, and finally, placed third in state! Nygren’s competition was against all eighth graders in the state of Washington. We are all very proud of her!
