Churches announce plans for Lent services

The Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ invites the community to join and celebrate the season of Lent. The theme of the mid-week service is, “Glimpses of Grace”.

Zion Philadelphia hosts a joint service with Emanuel Lutheran Church for the first service of Lent, on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22. A soup supper begins at 6 p.m. and Pastor Bob Kenyon begins worship service at 7 p.m.

On Feb. 29, Emanuel Lutheran Church hosts a joint evening service beginning at 6 p.m. with Pastor Judith Rinehart-Nelson conducting the service.

On Mar. 28, all Ritzville Ministerial Association churches join at Emanuel Lutheran Church for the last soup supper and service before Holy Week.

Holy Week begins Sunday, Apr.1, with the Palm Sunday service at 10:30 a.m., following a 9 a.m. breakfast.

On Thursday, Apr. 5, Zion Philadelphia hosts the “Maundy Thursday Last Supper” starting at 6 p.m.

Good Friday is Apr. 6, with the RMA joint community service starting at 7 p.m. After worship, the movie, “Passion of Christ,” plays on the big screen in the sanctuary.

On Sunday, Apr. 8, Zion Philadelphia hosts their traditional Easter Service at 10:30 a.m.
