Rep. Fagan to host tele town hall meeting Feb. 21

With the updated state revenue forecast slated to be announced Thursday, Feb. 16, and the 2012 legislative session heading into days of budget negotiations, Rep. Susan Fagan hosts a Ninth District telephone town hall meeting Tuesday, Feb. 21, to listen to constituent perspectives and answer questions.

The call begins promptly at 6:35 p.m. and lasts one hour. Constituents can participate by dialing 1-877-229-8493 and, when prompted, entering PIN number 15605. Once on the line, callers can ask a question by pressing star 3 (*3) on their telephone keypads.

Staff assists the callers by asking their questions “live” with Fagan during the call.

“After we learn if our state’s projected tax collections hold steady or decline, that’s when the majority party budget writers have said they will begin working on the supplemental budget that is 1.5 billion dollars out of balance,” said Fagan, R-Pullman. “Waiting until the thirty-ninth day of a sixty-day session to begin budget talks means big decisions that will impact folks in the Ninth District and statewide. My goal with the call is to share the latest legislative news and issues and, more importantly, hear from constituents on their solutions, ideas and concerns. Valuable insights are always gained from these calls and so I hope folks will join me.”

At the end of the one-hour teleforum, anyone who stays on the line can leave a voicemail message with comments or questions, which are forwarded to her office.

“Residents who cannot attend the call are welcome to send e-mails, call or write letters,” added Fagan. “I want everyone in the district to feel they can participate in their state government. I look forward to a constructive two-way conversation on the issues facing the Ninth District and the state.”

The 2012 legislative session began Jan. 9, and is scheduled to adjourn March 8.
