County not impacted by state’s Legislative redistricting effort

The final plan approved by the four voting members of the Washington State Redistricting Commission on Sunday, Jan. 1, did not bring any changes to the Adams County legislative district.

The Legislature received the final, published plan and report on Jan. 9.

The 9th legislative district consists of part of Spokane county, Adams, Franklin, Whitman, Garfield and Asotin counties. The target population for each of the legislative districts is 137,236. The 9th legislative districts deviates three from the target population.

The 15th legislative district in Yakima will be the first majority Latino district with about 54.5 percent of the population being Latino.

The map and final plan will be posted on the Washington State Redistricting Commission’s website, http://www.redistricting.wa.gov, after the 30-day review session.

The proposed plan and map are currently posted on the website for public review.

For any questions or comments concerning the new redistricting boundaries, call (360) 786-0770 or email the Commission at [email protected].
