Marcie Miller will serve for another year as chairperson of the Ritzville School Board. The board conducted its annual reorganization Monday, Dec. 19.
Prior to the reorganization decisions, Miller and the rest of the board honored Dr. Warren Kragt for his service. Kragt opted to step down at the end his term rather than stand for re-election. Miller presented Kragt with a plaque, recognizing him for his years of service.
The outgoing Kragt said he appreciated the opportunity to serve the district and the community. He said he worked with eight board members and four superintendents during his two terms of service.
Kragt said he felt the board had been effective in stabilizing district finances during several challenging years
Chris Cook, an Adams County Public Works Department employee, will succeed Kragt. Cook was unopposed during the general election in November.
County elections officer Heidi Hunt swore in Cook and two incumbents, Shannon Flynn and Scott Carruth.
The board unanimously approved its board reorganization: Miller, board chairperson; Flynn, vice-chair; Carruth, legislative representative; Lane Iltz and Flynn, Ritzville Education Association negotiation team; Miller and Cook, Public School Employees negotiations team; and Iltz, WIAA representative.
