Dec. 17, 12:10 a.m. — Officer Tom Gracie observed all of the railroad’s crossing arms were in the down position with no train in the area. Burlington Northern Santa Fe was contacted. Gracie noted the crossing arms had been reset by 1:30 a.m.
Dec. 17, 7:55 p.m. —Officer Gracie completed a citizen assist by contacting a subject in the 400 block of West First Avenue and asking them to contact someone from out of town who was attempting to reach them.
Dec. 17, 9:29 p.m. — Officer Gracie responded to East Adams Rural Hospital to contact a subject regarding telephone harassment. He contacted both parties involved and advised them to stop contacting each other.
Dec. 16, 10:53 a.m. — Sergeant Mark Cameron responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Avenue for a welfare check. A postal worker reported that a resident had not picked up their mail for two weeks. Cameron contacted the resident who stated they were all right.
Dec. 15, 9:39 p.m. — A reporting party stated that a juvenile male just knocked on their window and then took off running. Sgt. Cameron contacted the person in the 100 block of West Sixth Avenue. The reporting party advised they planned to contact a parent regarding the incident the next day. Cameron checked back later and learned the complainant was unable to make contact with anyone.
Dec. 15, 1:27 p.m. — Extra patrols were requested in the 500 block of East Second Avenue after a reporting party stated a white Ford Explorer or similar vehicle was speeding down the block.
Dec. 14, 6:32 p.m. — Sgt. Cameron and the Ritzville Fire Department responded to a smell of smoke in a residence in the 900 block of South Division Street. Traffic control wasn’t needed and Cameron cleared.
Dec. 14, 4:38 p.m. — Sgt. Cameron responded to the 100 block of East Second Avenue to investigate a suspicious 9-1-1 call. He contacted a resident who said they no longer have a land line telephone.
Dec. 13, 8:03 p.m. — Officer Hunter Klewin and Sgt. Cameron responded to a noise complaint in the 100 block of West Sixth Avenue. They parked a block away and walked into the area but did not hear anything. A short time later dispatch advised the original reporting party called again about a suspicious noise. The officers return to the area but did not hear or find anything suspicious.
Dec. 13, 3:59 p.m. — Chief David McCormick contacted a complainant at Pete’s Garage who was in a dispute with the business owner regarding the release of a trailer. The tow operator advised they couldn’t release the trailer without proof of ownership. McCormick asked for a county or state unit to respond. The Washington State Patrol responded to the business and advised the complainant that the tow operator was doing what the law required and that the trailer wouldn’t be released without positive proof of ownership.
Dec. 13, 2:20 a.m. — Officer Gracie responded to a noise complaint in the 300 block of East Seventh Avenue. He contacted the subjects and advised them of the complaint. They agreed to keep the noise down.
Dec. 12, 6:47 p.m. — Officer Klewin responded to a possible domestic dispute in the 200 block of East Fourth Avenue. It was determined the call was unfounded.
Dec. 12, 9:29 a.m. — Sgt. Cameron conducted a welfare check in the 200 block of West Second Avenue. The resident said they were fine.
Dec. 11, 3:36 a.m. — Officer Gracie responded to the area of South Division Street and Smitty’s Boulevard for a report of a vehicle at the stop sign for 20 minutes. When he arrived the vehicle’s brake lights were on and the driver was asleep in the driver’s seat Eli J. Lindsey was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence.
Dec. 11, 4:36 p.m. — Officer Klewin responded to a report of a silent alarm at 311 West Main Avenue. He was assisted by the Washington State Patrol. The doors were secure and there were no footprints found in the frost outside the building. Dispatch attempted to contact the responsible party but the number was no longer in service.
Dec. 11, 2:57 p.m. Officer Klewin responded to a report of a black Ford Mustang being driven at a high rate of speed in the 400 block of East Cherry Avenue. He found the vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Fifth Avenue a short time later. The vehicle is the same one involved in similar complaints.
Dec. 11, 1:53 p.m. — Chief McCormick was asked to conduct a welfare check after a woman from Idaho called and stated that a male friend’s dog recently died and the man may be depressed. McCormick attempted to contact the subject at several locations without success. McCormick, through Sgt. Cameron, later learned the subject was out of town at the time. McCormick contacted the woman who initially requested the welfare check and advised her the man was out of town.
Dec. 10, 6:36 p.m. — Officer Gracie maintained surveillance on the area of North Division Street and East Fir Avenue after a complainant reported a vehicle revving its engine and squealing tires.
Dec. 10, 10:13 p.m. — Officer Gracie conducted a welfare check in the 1000 block of South Jackson Street. He contacted the homeowner who said they did not need assistance.
Dec. 10, 9:41 a.m. — Officer Klewin responded to a report of malicious mischief at the ag shop in the 700 block of South Division Street. He discovered a window that appeared to have been pried open. The building was searched and no one was found inside. The responsible party arrived at the building and didn’t find anything missing.
Dec. 10, 5:53 a.m. — The door to Brew Happy had been broken. Officer Klewin responded to the call in the 1500 block of South Bauman Street. The building was broken into. The cash register drawer was removed and two drawers from a plastic container were also taken. Approximately $140 was taken.
Dec. 8, 9:36 a.m. — Chief McCormick responded to the 600 block of South Washington after a reporting party stated a vehicle had been parked in front of their residence for more than a week. The vehicle was registered to someone from Wenatchee. The vehicle was properly licensed and legally parked. McCormick said the police would keep an eye on it and contact the owner if possible and notify them of the complainant’s concerns.
Dec. 8, 8:26 a.m. — Chief McCormick contacted a complainant in the 300 block of East Third Avenue. The woman stated that the trunk was open on her car. She stated that a week prior to that she found the driver door of the vehicle open. In both instances, the woman said nothing was missing. McCormick advised she should take her valuables into the home at night. He also notified the night shift officers for extra patrols in the area.
Dec. 7, 7:50 p.m. — Sgt. Cameron responded to the 400 block of East Wellsandt Avenue at the Gilson Gymnasium to contact a subject regarding a possible assault. As a result of the contact and an interview with a 13-year-old, Cameron sent a report to the Adams County Juvenile Department for follow up.
Dec. 6, 12 p.m. — Sgt. Cameron was contacted by dispatch and asked to do a welfare check after a woman called and said that she was attempting to reach her ex-husband because his mother was in the hospital. The man was contacted and he advised he didn’t believe his mother was hospitalized. According to the report he called his mother and she advised she wasn’t in the hospital. Cameron cleared the call with no additional action.
Dec. 5, 8:50 a.m. — Sgt. Cameron responded to the 100 block of West Main Avenue after a complainant said the tires on their truck had been slashed. The complainant showed Cameron the flat tire. Cameron observed the tire appeared to be cracked and worn. He took the tire to Les Schwab where it was determined the tire had been damaged in the past and the tire wall gave out. The call was determined to be unfounded.
Dec. 3, 9:23 p.m. — Officer Gracie arrested Robert Gage Curtis in the 100 block of West Galbreath Way. The subject was arrested for outstanding warrants and booked in the Adams County Jail.
Dec. 3, 12:58 a.m. — Officer Gracie responded to a possible curfew violation in the 200 block of East Alder Avenue. It was determined the juvenile subject had returned home prior to his arrival.
Dec. 2, 8:31 p.m. — Officer Gracie responded to the 100 block of West Galbreath Way at SunMart for a report of found property. A wallet was turned in at the convenience store. Gracie sent a written notice to the owner of the wallet that the item was at the police department.
Dec. 2, 3:33 p.m. — Chief McCormick responded to the area of West First Avenue and South Jackson Street to assist an individual with a sticky lock at a storage unit. McCormick was unable to open the lock using the key. He removed the lock with bolt cutters.
Dec. 2, 12:46 p.m. — Chief McCormick responded to a two-vehicle non-injury accident in the area of West Eighth Avenue and South Washington Street. The two parties exchanged insurance information. McCormick advised them he would complete a state collision report.
Dec. 1, 4:29 p.m. — Sgt. Cameron conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of West First Avenue at Jefferson Street. As a result he arrested and administratively booked Jordan Block for driving with a suspended license. Block was also cited for no proof of insurance.
