Daniel Lee Jordan, “Old West Artist,” died in Goldendale, on Nov. 30, 2011, at the age of 64. He was born to William and Rosemary (Moews) Jordan on April 27, 1947, in Pekin, Ill.
He grew up in Marquette Heights and graduated from Spalding Institute. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was active in the Vietnam War.
On Aug. 25, 1970, he married Caroline Kratcha in Colton, Calif. After his honorable discharge from military service in 1972, he worked for Simpson Timber Company. He later went to college in Bremerton, earned an Associate’s Degree in art and would spend the rest of his career as an Old West artist.
They settled in Goldendale five years ago, but had previously lived in Wauconda, Wash. They often traveled all over the West in their motor home, and he would attend Western art shows and sell his work.
He was a history buff and guitar player. He loved Black Powder Rendezvous and enjoyed the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Goldendale; children, Roxy Miklethun, Jesse Cunningham and Raney Nutt all of Shelton; siblings, William David Jordan of Wauconda, John Jordan of Parker, Ariz., Michael Jordan of Molalla, Ore., and half-brother William Dale Jordan, Jr. of Bloomington, Ill .; grandchildren, Tim Gallagher of Shelton, Holly Cunningham of Peoria, Ill., Sarah Nutt of Shelton and Rebecca Nutt of Shelton; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father William D. Jordan, mother Rosemary Jordan and half-brother Ronald Jordan.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel in Goldendale handled cremation arrangements.
