County certifies General Election results, recount needed in Othello

Election results in Adams County were certified Tuesday morning following the final vote tally following the Nov. 8 General Election.

A contested Ritzville City Council race was narrowly decided, just missing the threshold for a required manual recount. Incumbent Barney Street defeated Debbie Chapman by nine votes, 315-306.

A recount is automatically initiated when the margin of victory is less than one-half of one percent. In this race, Streeter garnered 50.72 percent of the vote to Chapman’s 49.28 percent. Streeter finished with a 1.44 percent margin of victory.
