The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join the local Christmas celebrations this upcoming week. The first event will be Thursday, Dec. 1, for Business After Hours at Sunny Spot Floral and Gifts, starting at 5:30 p.m. Connie Galbreath’s store is Christmas Central; stop by for appetizers, enter to win door prizes and have your Snowman picture taken.
Christmas at the Clock will be on Friday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Linda Kadlec will do the Tree Lighting and she will have her special guest, Santa! The Zion Philadelphia Choir and Friends will sing Christmas carols. Be at Main Ave. and Washington Street by the clock to watch the Tree Lighting and join in the festivities.
The First Friday Art Reception will take place on Friday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Ritzville Art Gallery. The gallery will feature the works of Linda Kubik during the evening reception at 109 West Main Avenue.
Community members are encouraged to Shop Locally for Christmas and to honor this, a group of businesses will keep their doors open until 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. There will be a lot of in-store specials valid only from 5 to 8 p.m. on this Friday.
These businesses will stay open to support Shop Locally for Christmas: Ritzville Public Library, Dr. Frank R. Burroughs’ Home and Museum, Northern Pacific Railway Depot, King Mercantile Company, Flying Arts Ranch, The Hair Center, Inc., Amoré Skin Care and Nail Spa, Sunny Spot Floral and Gifts, Bob’s TV and Appliance, Casuela’s Mexican Grill, Family Video and Variety Shop, Ritzville Parts House/NAPA, Ritzville Computer and Internet and Larsen Photography, Ritzville Tire Company/Les Schwab, Gallery on Main, Big Bend Bowl/Café and Lounge, Cow Creek Mercantile/Spike’s Deli and Pizza and Greenside Café and Pro Shop.
On Saturday, Dec. 3 there will be a free children’s matinee movie of “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” at the New Ritz Theatre at 2 p.m. After the movie, the Ritzville Fire Department and Santa will greet the children with treats.
