Ritzville Third Grade

What I like best about Thanksgiving is all the food my family and I get to eat. I help my mom cook the turkey and set the table. When everybody arrives we all sit down at the table and start eating. I wait until everyone is done eating then I eat the rest. We have apple pie for dessert and I eat most of it! -Kaytlyn Daley-Allen

What I like best about Thanksgiving is that every other year we go to my aunt Sue’s house. She lives in Walla Walla. I get to see my aunts and uncles. I also get to see my cousins. My family spends the night at my aunt Sue’s house. We sleep in the basement. We go on horse rides sometimes. I have a lot of fun with my family on Thanksgiving! -Julia Klein

What I like best about Thanksgiving is seeing my cousins. Last year, we went sledding behind our razor. Devin’s sled went off the road! I went over a stump of snow and jumped four feet in the air! My cousin did the same thing, but she fell off. Then her foot got stuck in the snow and we pulled her out. Then her boot got buried in the snow. I got the sled and Devin got her boot. We picked her up and put her on the sled. Her foot was frozen for an hour! I love spending time with my cousins during Thanksgiving. -Linnea Schafer

Here’s something I like about Thanksgiving. I love it when my grandma makes some yummy rice, beans, soup, turkey and hot chocolate. Also it’s fun when we play games before we eat. I have several favorite things I like about Thanksgiving, but here are my favorite things about it. First, I like that I get to see my family. I get to see my family from Spokane, Odessa, and from here in Ritzville. Next, when I see my family I get to play a lot of games like going outside and playing football. Third, sometimes at my grandparents house my cousins and I go out and feed my grandpa’s horses and sometimes we will just go out and pet them. Thanksgiving is a great holiday and that means all my favorite foods and my family. First, I love pecan pie. With the yummy filling and the crunchy nuts I can’t wait to eat it. Second, I get excited for my family to come. This year it’s at my grandma’s house. She is going to make the BEST food ever. Third, I see that turkey and want it right away. Then my mom bakes the turkey I always love to chew on the neck. It’s nice and crispy. Fourth, I love studying in school about the FIRST EVER Thanksgiving. I have a few different favorite things about Thanksgiving. This is what they are. First of all, I love Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey and mashed potatoes YUM! I also like to get together with family on Thanksgiving. Like my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and of course my own family. My family and I have lots of fun when we get together with other family especially my cousins. It seems every time we see each other my sister and I always have a fun time playing with them! Several things I like best about Thanksgiving are spending time with family, the food, and having visitors. I also help my mother prepare the feast. I love getting to see the turkey cook in the oven and making little turkey costumes. With family at my house holding my nieces and nephews is a blast. When we eat Thanksgiving dinner we have yams, mashed potatoes, rolls, gravy, turkey, and ham. There is something that everyone likes. We also have all sorts of different pies. I have a lot of favorite things about Thanksgiving. My first favorite thing is spending time with family. When we get together we do many things. We play games by taking turns or making teams. At the end of the day we watch a movie and make a bed on the floor. We sit or lay on the bed. And then we watch the movie.

My second favorite thing I like about thanksgiving is the food. My family always eats together. I love apple pie. Apple pie tastes yummy! It has sweet apples in it. I get apple pie every thanksgiving.

The last kind of food I like is mashed potatoes. I love to have gravy on it. It tastes yummy! I like it because it is mushed up and it has a really good taste. The gravy is delicious.

Conclusion I have a lot of things I like about thanksgiving my favorite thing I like is spending time with family. And I like the food. Especially mash potatoes! -Madison Blaske

My favorite thing about Thanks giving is my family because all my family gets together. I like all my family get togethers because then there’s more people and like seeing and a lot of people at my house cooking, playing, talking My family seems more happy, and I like my family being happy

The second reason I like my family is that they make up a funny dance. When they do the funny dance they all laugh. All the family has to pass the dance except for the little kids. Then they start laughing and the little kid’s start crying. The people that dance are my mom, Aunt Cirila, Brenda, Uncle Pancho, Augrelia, Apolinar, Flor, Edgar, Arnulfo, Anai’s, Anai, AuntJuana, Alexis, Balerio, Lola, Ayuso, Junior, Aunt Marta, Maria, Gavi, Aunt Tona, Alicia, and myself. The dance that we make up is fun to do and I have a lot of fun.

The third reason I like my family coming for Thanksgiving is my cousin’s play volley ball and we choose teams and play and play until we get tired.

The fourth reason I like my family coming over is that my cousin’s, my sister and I do a game for the big people. When they’re done eating they play the game that we invent and we go eat. All this happen at Brenda’s house. The little kids play with the dog. That’s why I like my family coming to Thanksgiving. -Yesenia Carmona

My favorite thing about thanksgiving is family. I’m going to visit my grandma. I haven’t seen her before. She lives in Los Vegas, Nevada. My dog is coming too. My cat can’t come because she isn’t used to being in a car. It will take three or four days to get there.

I will have to stay in a hotel for a night. I might leave on Tuesday or Wednesday. This might become my favorite thing to do every year. -Ethan Dennis

There are many things I like about Thanksgiving, but I want to tell you about my favorite things.

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is no school because I don’t have to wake up at 6:00 a.m. Another thing I like is I can stay up late. Sometimes I can stay up till 11:00 or 12:00 Midnight. A Third thing is I can play games for 2hours or all day.

I have a lot of favorite things about Thanksgiving. Here are three of them.

One of my favorite things is there is no school. I like that there is no school because I get to spend time with my family and we play card games, board games, and the Wii. I also have sleepovers with my best friend and we play Littlest Pet Shops and other games. I also love to read chapter books like A to Z Mysteries.

Another thing that I like is, on some Thanksgivings, I get to see people that I don’t get to see very often like my Pappy. He comes all the way from Seattle. My Grandma also comes, but I’m not sure where she comes from. My Uncle also comes, sometimes, with one of his sons. His son is my cousin.

I also like the food my mom and I make. We make a lot, but I can only tell you a few of them. Sometimes, we make pie and sometimes we buy it. I forgot how we make it. We also make mashed potatoes and gravy.

To make the mashed potatoes and gravy, first we bake some potatoes. Next, we peel and mash them, put them in a bowl, and blend them. Last, we put the mashed potatoes on the table.

We also make cranberry sauce. I forgot how to make that, too. We make turkey. I don’t really help with that one. We cook green beans.

I think I have a pretty good Thanksgiving! -Haley Kulm

My favorite thing about thanksgiving is food. When my mom starts to cook the turkey she wakes me up from bed and makes me do the turkey. I have to stuff the stuffing in the turkey and when I do I mess it up. Then we have to go to the store again to buy the turkey and the stuffing. Then we go home and cook the turkey. We put the turkey in the microwave, so it won’t be ruined. -Andrew Monnin

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the food. I like the food the best because my sister Sara and I get to help make the food. When we make our turkey we use our own homemade stuffing. When the turkey is stuffed we put it in the oven.

The fruit salad is one of my favorite Thanksgiving foods because it has my favorite fruits, and it’s covered in marshmallow sauce. When it’s finished Sara and I get to taste it.

After we make the salad we make pumpkin pie. My mother puts cooked seeds on top of the pumpkin pie as a decoration. My family likes pumpkin pie so much there is never ever leftover pumpkin pie.

My mom’s mashed potatoes are the best because she microwaves the potatoes for a couple of seconds, then, she mashes them and then, she cooks them. On Thanksgiving there are never any mashed potatoes left.

Another things that I like about Thanksgiving is vanilla banana pie. It’s something that my grandma makes and it is so good. When dessert comes everyone in my family goes for the pie. We never have any pie left.

Another thing that I like about Thanksgiving is the mint pie, but we don’t make that, we buy that from the Schwann man.
