Ritzville School Board proposes M&O levy

The Ritzville School Board met on Monday, Nov. 21, to discuss the Maintenance and Operations levy renewal. The current levy is at $2.99 generating $881,000 for district operations.

The board has proposed a levy at $3.16 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation. The new levy would provide $933,000 in funding.

This will be based on the amount of the assessed $1000 property value per household. The last levy passed at an amount of $3.12 before the equalization of the state resulted in a reduction of the levy assessment to $2.99.

The levy is a major part of funding for the district and the new proposed levy will replace the existing one.

The board will vote again to proceed with the levy at their meeting on Dec. 19 before it can officially be placed on the Feb. 12 ballot.
