RHS takes eighth in state soils

Ritzville FFA Chapter placed eighth in the state soils contest held Nov. 2 in Lincoln County. Ritzville had two teams at the state contest this year making a total of 28 teams that competed.

Team No. 1 members for Ritzville included Palmer Phillips, Drew Hartz, Colby Starring, Tyler O’Brien and Sydney Nelson.

Team No. 2 members were Brooke Pichette, Ashley Ambers, Tyler Greenwalt, Tyler Frederick and Haley Oestriech.

Team No. 1 finished eighth and Team No. 2 finished 12th. The top eight teams in the state received plaques given by the Washington State FFA Association.

Top teams included Prosser Team No. 1, Lacrosse, Prosser Team No. 2, Tekoa, Garfield/Palouse, Rosalia, Davenport and Ritzville. Palmer Phillips was the high individual for Ritzville with a score of 306 out of a possible 325 points. Tyler O’Brien had the next high score for Ritzville with a 296.
