Ministerial group to host Thanksgiving meal

Sunday, Nov. 20, has been set aside for a community Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the Ritzville Ministerial Association and the Ritzville Food Pantry. The traditional Thanksgiving meal is intended as a community event and everyone is welcome to attend and dine in fellowship. The meal is being provided free.

Pastor Buck Garner explained the event is a way for the ministerial group and the Food Pantry to acknowledge the community for its support throughout the year.

“We just wanted to have something for the community, a ‘thank you’ for those who helped with donations throughout the year and for those who are in need,” Garner said.

Last year the group hosted the first such meal and served between 250 and 280 guests.

They are preparing to serve up to 400 this year at the Ritzville Grade School in the gym. Last year’s event was held at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall, and in one year the event grew out of the facility.

The meal will feature turkey with all the trimmings. The menu includes gluten free items as well.

The gluten free menu items include dressing, rolls and dessert.

The ministerial association is using the proceeds from the pie booth operated during the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair to cover the cost of the event.
