Voter turnout tops 55 percent

More than 55 percent of registered voters in Adams County cast their ballot in Tuesday’s General Election according the county’s elections office.

Ballots tallies were tabulated at 8 p.m. Tuesday, after the canvassing board reviewed ballots with write-in candidates earlier in the evening followed by another count at 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday.

After the count at 3:46 p.m. on Thursday, a total of 3,393 ballots were counted. The next count is set for Nov. 28 at 3 p.m.

Adams County Auditor Nancy McBroom said the number of total votes cast in Adams County typically increases by nine to 10 percent in the days following the actual election day.

She also said the margin of victory typically remains fairly close to the original figures determined on election night.
