Ritzville Festivals Association fundraiser returns Saturday

Doors will open at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ for the annual Penny Auction sponsored by the Ritzville Festivals Association as a fundraiser.

Organizers will announce the auction winners at 1 p.m. Members of the Ritzville Festivals Association will serve lunch.

For anyone who hasn’t attended previous penny auctions, the event is a cross between an auction and a drawing.

At the door, $1, $5 and $10 bags of tickets are available to purchase. Tickets in each bag all have the same number, and the bags are filled with 100, 500 and 1,000 tickets respectively; therefore, each ticket is worth a penny.

Each auction item will have a cup beside it. A person drops any number of tickets into the cup, keeping in mind the more tickets the better chance to win.

When the auction is concluded, a number is drawn from each cup. The person who bought that number packet wins the item.
