Oct. 15, 11:38 p.m. – City of Ritzville police department reported a white male six feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, wearing khaki shorts and a red shirt walking very slowly toward town on Danekas Road near Templin Terminal. Not a local subject, staggering a bit. Officer Hunter Klewin assisted with the call since Deputy Ben Buriak, was in Washtucna. Officer Klewin made contact with the subject prior to Buriak’s arrival. Subject decided to walk back to Ritzville and stay the night in a motel.
Oct. 15, 3:06 p.m. – A Washtucna complainant advised the neighbors dog is always barking and is unlicensed. Complainant was advised the county had no dog ordinances he would need to talk to the City council about the issue.
Oct. 15, 2:20 p.m. – A county unit assisted Ritzville Police Department with a stolen car on West Galbreath Way.
Oct. 15, 10:48 a.m. – A Lind complainant advised a child was bit by a dog in the 400 block of West Third Street, with no injuries. Complainant is available later for contact.
Oct. 15, 10:43 a.m. A complainant from Benge requested the sheriff’s office drive through the area as there were several unknown vehicles around on East Calloway Road, Washtucna. A vehicle was parked partially in the roadway and no one was around. The complainant was advised to call if they had a problem with trespassers.
Oct. 15, 9:40 a.m. – A vehicle was parked in the roadway on South Mullan Road and South Gray Road, Washtucna, while the registered owner was chasing after a deer. The subject was contacted and advised that they were not to park in the roadway.
Oct. 15, 9:35 a.m. – A vehicle was parked in the gravel pit near Highway 26 and South Mullan Road, Washtucna. Deputy Jeff Lane contacted the listed owner and advised him that he was not allowed to park there. Owner advised that he will not park there again.
Oct. 15, 6:47 a.m. – A complainant from Hooper advised of finding a lock cut off his property on South Gray Road just north of Highway 26 and replaced with another lock from Union Pacific Railroad and now he is unable to access his ground. After daylight it was discovered that the lock was not damaged, and was reattached to the chain. Deputy Lane called UPRR and advised them of the problem.
Oct. 14, 10:54 a.m. – A complainant from Connell advised they were missing business signs from the area of Benge and Washtucna. Complainant wanted the sheriff’s office to be aware of the situation.
Oct. 14, 7:51 a.m. – A Lind complainant advised of a subject that has been making contact via text messages or Facebook referencing items the subject believes they have of theirs. Deputy Ned Bernath advised complainant of their option to seek an anti-harassment order if they feel it is needed since both parties have been contacted and have referenced this same issue by law enforcement in the recent past and it did not appear to resolve the issue.
Oct. 13, 11:15 a.m. – A complainant advised of a subject with medical issues at the Hatton Rest Area, Lind. Mental Health Professionals were contacted and spoke with the subject before the subject left the area.
Oct. 13, 8:25 a.m. – A complainant in the 200 block of West Second Street, Lind, called and advised he and his wife were having a verbal domestic. Deputy Bernath filed a report.
Oct. 12, 10:19 a.m. – A Lind complainant advised that her child was bitten by a dog on the way to school. After investigation, it was learned that there was no bite, but the child was pushed by the neighbors dog on East Sixth Street. Deputy Bernath spoke with the dog owner who advised they believed their dogs were in their kennel at the time, but they will take steps to ensure their dogs are not out in the future.
Oct. 12, 9:59 a.m. – A Ritzville complainant advised of a subject that called and advised that he was their grandson and needed money. Complainant recognized this as a scam and notified the sheriff’s office.
Oct. 12, 6:54 a.m. – Burlington Northern Santa Fe advised that there were cattle out at Highway 395 and North Paha Road. BNSF advised they had made it all the way to the Paha 395 interchange before they chased them out. The cows were now along the tracks near Anderson Road. Sheriff’s office located eight to 10 head of Black Angus cattle about one mile south of Paha along the tracks. Dispatch was able to contact the owners who were enroute to take care of the cattle.
Oct. 11, 7:22 p.m. – A Lind complainant advised of a subject that is harassing/stalking the complainant and spouse on Facebook. Complainant was requesting information on how to get the subject to stop all communications with them. Complainant did not want to pursue any charges.
Oct. 11, 12:00 p.m. – A Lind complainant left a brief phone message requesting Deputy Buriak to call them. Complainant would not divulge why they needed to be contacted. Dep. Buriak called the complainant and was advised someone had broken into their residence and stole several items the day prior. Burglary was estimated to have occurred between the hours of 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Oct. 11, 6:08 a.m. – A Ritzville complainant advised of numerous vehicles on the roadway at North Deal Road, flashing their lights. Complainant further advised of vehicle peeling out from his driveway over the past few days. Deputy Bernath arrived in the area and observed several trucks and service trucks pulling in and out from the newly constructed potato shed approximately one half mile south of complainants residence. Nothing appeared to be out of order.
Oct. 10, 10:25 p.m. – An anonymous complainant advised of a subject having warrants and located in the 200 block of North S Street, Lind. Deputies Aaron Madison and Lane contacted and arrested Justin Daniel Harrington for a DUI warrant out of Grant County.
Oct. 10, 1:45 p.m. – A Lind complainant called and advised of a subject that was harassing her over money she owed to them. A second subject called and advised of the same. Deputy Bernath spoke with both subjects and both advised they would not contact each other anymore. Complainant advised she would also pay the subject the money owed on the evening of Oct. 11. Both parties were advised, by Dep. Bernath, of their options to seek court orders restricting contact with each other.
Oct. 9, 10:38 p.m. – City of Ritzville Police advised of a citizen dispute at a location near the 400 block of West First Ave. A subject was pounding on the walls, being aggressive and wanting to fight. Possibly throwing stuff. No city units out. City requested a deputy respond until a city unit can get on scene. Deputy Buriak and Sergeant Taylor responded and contacted subjects on the scene. Units remained on scene until Sgt. Mark Cameron arrived and handled the call.
Oct. 9, 3:55 p.m. – A Spokane complainant advised that he lost a black lab in the area of North Hills Road and East Griffith Road, Ritzville while training today. Stated that the dog had a Cabela’s electric training collar on.
Oct. 9, 10:38 a.m. – A Lind complainant advised of problems with neighbors over dogs on West Third Street. Neither neighbor will admit wrongdoing and the situation has deteriorated. Both parties were advised to contact the city with issues over the dogs.
Oct. 9, 8:19 a.m. – Union Pacific Railroad reported cows out near the Palm Lake Area, Sprague.
