Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Thank you, Stephen McFadden, for your interviews with the candidates seeking election or reelection to the EARH board. Thank you, American Association of University Women, for providing the forum, which gave us the opportunity to hear the candidates express their opinions, hopes and fears. A thank you also to each candidate, for making yourselves available in print and in person.
How different are matters regarding the candidates for city council positions. Not a peep out of any of them. No interviews in the Journal, no public forum, no letters to the editor from the candidates explaining why they would like to serve in office. Silence.
There are serious issues facing the citizens of this city and thus facing the people’s representatives. What are the candidates thoughts regarding the issues such as the continuing loss of population, or the effect on the city citizens of the $17 increase in sewer charges. What do the candidates have to say regarding the impact on the standard of living of city citizens when the council gets around to raising the rates to pay the millions of dollars in loans for water projects being considered? Where do they candidates stand on the “Light Industrial Park” proposal?
Did it not occur to the candidates seeking election or reelection that there might be citizens who wonder about their positions on the issues mentioned and other matters being considered by city government? How can a voter make a wise choice on the ballot without this vital information?
