Rose (Pflugrath) MacDonald, age 99, died at a local care facility in Brookings, Ore., on Oct. 3, 2011. She was born May 28, 1912, in Ritzville to Emmanuel and Christina (Stuckle) Pflugrath. She grew up on the family farm in Ritzville.
There she met Ted Vaughn; the two were married in 1935 and moved to Wenatchee. They later moved to Pendleton, Ore., where they lived for 30 years. They later divorced.
In 1975, she moved to Sunnyvale, Calif., where she sold stamps and arranged flowers for the local contract postal service in Los Altos, Calif.
There she met and married Wilbur I. “Mac” MacDonald. The two enjoyed traveling together all of the U.S. until his death in 2003.
She then moved to Medford, Ore., briefly before moving to Brookings. It is said she enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, fishing and canning.
Survivors include her sons, Wendell Vaughn and his wife, Sharon, of Brookings; Richard Vaughn and his wife, Midge, of Brookings; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; stepson Bert Vaughn and his wife, Pat, of Arnold, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, stepdaughter, Lois MacDonald and three siblings, Albert, Emilia and Anne.

No public ceremony will be held.
Private inurnment will be at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery.
