Many attend hospital district's annual street fair

The annual health fair was a visible success and Clinic Manager Vicky Johnson said she was pleased with the number of vendors and the general public’s attendance.

The 2011 event was held in Pioneer Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 10, and played host to 31 healthcare organizations and three retail vendors.

“The bone density and hearing screening were very popular, as well as the massages,” Johnson said. “All of the vendors said they were pleased with the turnout and I had multiple attendees who said they thought it was a good event with lots of information.”

The Inland Northwest Blood Center collected 19 units of donated blood during the four-hour event.

Twenty participants took part in the hearing screening while 23 utilized the bone density testing.

Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 offered reduced fee laboratory tests on Friday and Saturday.

Johnson said 28 utilized the service on Friday and 37 on Saturday during the actual health fair.

The sidewalk chalk art contest was very popular with 37 aspiring artists.

A number of people took home prizes for taking part in different activities. In the Vendor Treasure Hunt there were four winners. Among the adult, Barry Sterner took first place and Karen Scheel, second. Aimee Laufer was the winner among children with Matthew Pence in second.

The ambulance association conducted a drawing for car seats. Irene Rosenoff and Rene Arlt were the winners of those items.

The chalk art contest winners were Kelsey Carlson, Cole Cameron and Willow Rountree.
