Aug. 15, 6:50 p.m. – Washington State Patrol Trooper Tyler Fryberger requested a second unit at the scene of a DUI involving drugs at the westbound Schrag rest area. Dep. Dan Verhey responded as other WSP units were unavailable. Verhey transported a five-year-old child to the sheriff’s office where a family member was waiting to pick the child up.

Aug. 15, 9:16 p.m. – Complainant advised that a male subject had failed to pay for several vehicle parts. Dep. Verhey contacted the subject, who advised a verbal agreement had occurred regarding the items. The subject further advised the items would be paid for soon. The complainant was contacted the following day and advised it was a civil issue.

Aug. 15, 9:08 p.m. – Dep. Verhey contacted the driver of a derby car that was reported as driving in the Lind area and warned the subject about driving the vehicle on town roadways.

Aug. 15, 7:06 a.m. – Complainant advised of hitting a dear at North Snyder and East Wellsandt Roads, Ritzville.

Aug. 14, 9:59 p.m. – Complainant requested a deputy check the area of North Deal Road, Ritzville, after hearing a suspicious sound. Dep. Aaron Madison checked the area but was unable to locate any vehicles or subjects.

Aug. 14, 8:06 p.m. – Dispatch was advised of CPR in progress at the Schrag rest area and the subject was being transported to the hospital by EMS. The subject was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Aug. 14, 3:21 p.m. – Complainant advised of two females who appeared to be intoxicated and dropped off a couple of juveniles in the 200 block of West Spring Avenue, Washtucna. Complainant was concerned after hearing the females discussed driving to the Tri-Cities. Dep. Ben Buriak contacted the subjects and determined they weren’t intoxicated.

Aug. 14, 12:34 p.m. – Dep. Verhey assisted Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 by providing traffic control at a fire just north of I-90 at milepost 216.

Aug. 13, 12:22 p.m. – WSP rquested a second unit at northbound milepost 92 on U.S. 395 for officer safety. Dep. Verhey responded and assisted by standing by.

Aug. 13, 11:15 a.m. – A New York complainant advised of a sexual assault of two victims on St. Claire Avenue in Lind in mid to late 2010.

Aug. 13, 8:45 a.m. – Complainant advised of finding a Timberline bicycle on East Urquhart Road, Ritzville.

Aug. 13, 8:17 a.m. – A Connell complainant requested extra patrols in the area of South Fox Road during harvest since vehicles in the area tend to speed.

Aug. 12, 7:10 p.m. – Complainant advised of a suspicious vehicle near the Union Pacific Railroad tracks at Highway 26 and Gray Road, Washtucna. Complainant advised it appeared that subjects were removing wire from the poles along the tracks.

Aug. 12, 4:47 p.m. – Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 requested assistance with notifying and evacuating a residence on North Thiel Road, Ritzville.

Aug. 11, 7:41 p.m. – A spraying business owner advised of doing work in the area of Deal and Griffith Roads, Odessa. The business owner wanted to let dispatch know due to the problems with metal scrapping in the area.

Aug. 11, 11:26 a.m. – Complainant on East Ankeny Lane, Washtucna, advised of receiving a scam letter in the mail.

Aug. 11, 7:25 a.m. – A Walla Walla complainant advised of leaving a duffle bag by one of the gas pumps the previous night on West First Street in Lind.

Aug. 10, 4:09 p.m. – Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railway advised of a crossing arm that came down and struck the hood of a vehicle on North Wilbur Road in Lind.

Aug. 10, 3:29 p.m. – The Spokane Valley Police Department sent a fax to the sheriff’s office about a stolen gas card and fuel purchased at Pacific Pride in Benge. A total of $127.85 was purchased on May 30, 2011, while using the card.

Aug. 9, 8:52 p.m. – An Odessa complainant advised of a vehicle removing a bailer from the roadway at North Moody and West Griffith Roads. Complainant further advised of suspicious activity in the area at night and requested additional patrols. Dep. Buriak checked the area for the vehicle but was unable to locate.

Aug. 9, 3:58 pm. – An anonymous complainant advised of a subject who drives consistently badly in the Washtucna area. Complainant further advised the subject has epileptic seizures, no insurance and no driver’s license.

Aug. 9, 1:53 p.m. – Dep. Verhey located a vehicle left on the side of the road that was non-blocking at North Batum and West Rosenoff Roads, Ritzville. The vehicle owner was contacted, who advised of being in the process to get it towed.

Aug. 9, 11:44 a.m. – Adams County Public Works advised of an old bailer left on the roadway in the area of West Griffith and North Moody Roads. Dep. Verhey found the item in the traveled area of the roadway, and it appeared the item was being stolen for scrap metal. The owner was contacted and advised of the theft as well as the location. Verhey marked the item with cones for traffic safety. No suspects are known regarding the theft.

Aug. 8, 5:53 p.m. – The WSP advised of a juvenile male subject walking westbound on I-90 near milepost 220. No state units were available and county assistance was requested. Dep. Buriak and Sgt. Brian Taylor responded and located the subject. Taylor transported the subject to the Country Travel Plaza to get a ride to his destination.

Aug. 8, 1:46 p.m. – A Lind complainant advised of subjects seen inside a fence and taking property in the 100 block of West Second Street. Dep. Buriak and Sgt. Taylor located the suspects and arrested Rick Dean Ambers II, Stuart Lee McKenney, Michelle Lee Perry and one male juvenile.

Aug. 8, 10:28 a.m. – Trooper Mark Shepherd and Sgt. Taylor assisted a motorist with changing a flat tire at northbound milepost 88 on U.S. 395.

Aug. 8, 8:57 p.m. – Complainant advised of a non-blocking abandoned vehicle at North Moody and West Schoessler Roads, Ritzville. Dep. Verhey checked the area the following day but was unable to locate the vehicle.

Aug. 8, 8:09 a.m. – A Spokane complainant sent a letter regarding a theft of farm equipment at West Lind-Warden and North Roxboro Roads, Lind. Date, time and suspects were unknown. Dep. Verhey attempted to contact the complainant but left a message.

Aug. 8, 6:19 a.m. – Union Pacific Railroad advised of cattle on the right-of-way in the Ashby area. Complainant further advised of seeing where the cattle are getting out and that it’s been an ongoing problem for the past few weeks. Dep. Verhey contacted the cattle owner and advised if the cattle were not kept under control a citation could be issued.

Aug. 6, 7:04 p.m. – Dep. Ned Bernath was advised of an alarm on North I Street in Lind from Moon Security. The company called back and advised to disregard as the responsible party was contacted.

Aug. 6, 1:02 p.m. – 1:02 p.m. – Complainant advised of a semi truck hauling two trailers observed in the middle of the road at East Rosenoff and North Bauer Roads, Ritzville, that was traveling at a high rate of speed. Complainant further advised of contacting a grain warehouse company in Ritzville about their driver. Dep. Buriak contacted the driver and warned the subject about the complaint.

Aug. 6, 7:18 a.m. – A Warden complainant advised a subject did not show up for a scheduled child visitation at North Durry Road, Ritzville.

Aug. 5, 9:55 p.m. – Dale Stewart Stevenson was arrested for driving under the influence on North I Street in Lind.

Aug. 5, 8:00 p.m. – Ritzville Sgt. Mark Cameron requested assistance at the Eagles Lodge on Washington Street. Sgt. Troy Mock and Dep. Jeff Lane responded to a fight outside of the establishment.

Aug. 5, 6:22 p.m. – Complainant advised of a suspicious trailer loading up a pickup at East Schrag and North Paha-Packard Road, Ritzville. Before Sgt. Mock could arrive, complainant advised the subjects were transporting their vehicle, which had broken down.

Aug. 5, 2:08 p.m. – An anonymous complainant advised of wheat being dumped at Highway 26 at the grain elevator across from Hatton. It was later determined the wheat was being dumped in a pile for storage and wasn’t close to the roadway.

Aug. 5, 1:59 p.m. – Union Pacific Railroad advised of cattle in the right-of-way at Palm Lake. On contact, the cattle owner advised the cattle would be moved the following week.

Aug. 4, 7:45 p.m. – Dep. Bernath contacted a stranded subject at Jake’s Café on West First Avenue in Ritzville and provided a ride.

Aug. 4, 4:27 p.m. – Complainant requested additional patrols in the area of East Griffith and North Suko Roads, Ritzville, during harvest.

Aug. 4, 11:06 a.m. – The Town of Lind advised of a vehicle driven in the area of the school by an underage driver. Sgt. Taylor contacted the owner of the van, who advised no one had driven the vehicle that day and none of the older juveniles admitted to driving. A witness later contacted Taylor and identified the driver. The parents and two teenage juveniles were warned.

Aug. 4, 9:14 a.m. – A Lind complainant advised that while being away for several weeks, a subject advised that a suspect was observed and contacted on the complainant’s property several times.

Aug. 3, 8:42 p.m. – Ritzville officer Tom Gracie advised Dep. Buriak that he had probable cause to arrest a male subject for reckless driving and driving while suspended third degree on North Freese Road. Buriak located the subject and took him into custody. Rick Dean Ambers II was transported to the Adams County Jail and booked on city charges.

Aug. 3, 8:34 p.m. – Dep. Bernath contacted a male subject at milepost 96 on U.S. 395 and was advised of trespassing laws.

Aug. 3, 4:14 p.m. – A Lind complainant advised that two suspicious plants were located in a garden in the 300 block of East Fifth Avenue. The plants were given to the complainant. Dep. Buriak contacted the complainant and was given the two plants, which were identified as marijuana and later entered into evidence to be destroyed.

Aug. 3, 12:47 a.m. – Dep. Kurt Berry cited and released Ignacio Mendoza for driving while license suspended third degree at Cherry Street and Fourth Avenue in Hatton.

Aug. 2, 4:56 p.m. – Dep. Buriak checked the Lind area for a motorcross-style motorcycle with two youth who were chased off of personal property on North Wahl Road in Lind but was unable to locate the subjects.

Aug. 2, 3:58 p.m. – WSP requested assistance with a suspicious vehicle on I-90 near milepost 221 but Dep. Buriak was out of position. WSP later located the subjects, including the driver who pointed a handgun out the window at other vehicles.

Aug. 2, 7:51 a.m. – A Mesa, Ariz., complainant advised of possible harassment taking place via e-mail and Facebook. Dep. Verhey reviewed several pages of conversation via fax and observed no form of harassment in the provided pages that would meet the harassment statute. Complainant was advised, and later called back. Complainant disagreed and requested the prosecuting attorney’s office be contacted. The office also found no harassment. Complainant was contacted and advised to contact the courts for an order for no further contact with the suspect and to document any contact by the suspect.

Aug. 2, 7:32 a.m. – Complainant advised of two male subjects asking for a ride at North Hills and East Arlt Roads, Ritzville. Dep. Verhey checked the area, including one mile into Lincoln County and around complainant’s residence, but was unable to locate the subjects.

Aug. 1, 3:03 p.m. – The sheriff’s office assisted with an investigation for the Othello Police Department.

Aug. 1, 3:01 p.m. – Dep. Verhey stopped a vehicle for traveling 103 mph in a 70 mph zone at U.S. 395 and Highway 21, Ritzville. Patrick Nathan Strong was cited for reckless driving and the vehicle was towed.

Aug. 1, 2:35 p.m. – Dep. Buriak contacted a Warden complainant about a collision that nearly occurred that morning at West Leisle and North Howard Roads. Complainant advised of farm vehicles not stopping and requested extra patrols in the area. Buriak contacted the listed subject and advised of the situation.

Aug. 1, 2:16 p.m. – A Camas complainant advised a male assaulted a passenger in a vehicle on U.S. 395 at milepost 81. The WSP stopped the vehicle at milepost 68. On contact, no marks or evidence of assault were found. The male subject advised of throwing a lit cigarette out the window and a burning part came back in the window and hit a juvenile. The male subject advised he pulled to the side of the road and attempted to put out the burning object.
