Tuesday morning meeting set for hospital’s strategic plan discussion

A special meeting of the Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners has been called for Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. The purpose of the special meeting is to discuss/approve the district’s strategic plan. The regular hospital board meeting is two days later at 7 p.m on Sept. 22.

A special committee met three times to discuss the district’s draft strategic plan and consider public comment regarding that plan.

District commissioners Kirk Danekas and Stacey Plummer and citizens Eric Walker and Harriett Lynch were part of the committee. District administrative staff also participated.

The Journal has not reported on the discussions during those committee meetings as Publisher Stephen McFadden was asked to leave during the first committee meeting by chairman Danekas.

Danekas asserted the district was not required by law to open the committee meeting to the public and the newspaper had not been invited.

Walker reportedly presented the committee with an alternative strategic plan he drafted.

Tuesday in a phone conversation, Danekas said both Walker’s plan, with updates, and the district’s original plan with changes have been sent to the commissioners for their review.
