This Monday, a celebration of nation and community is planned at the Lind Senior Center in memory of Sept. 11, 2001, when al-Qaeda terrorists coordinated and executed four suicide attacks on American soil.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a candlelight service, refreshments provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, catering by Cathy Jo’s Catering and the musical expertise of Janet Sackmann.
Programs for the evening will be provided by Good Hope Lutheran Church.
According to event coordinator Pastor Mary Daniels, this will serve as an opportunity to honor community and country in memory of that day.
Guest speakers will include Jason Sanger, discussing the importance of EMTs in emergency services; Rob Roettger, superintendent of Lind and Ritzville schools, will discuss why history is important; Lind Fire Department Chief Don Klemmer, discussing the part firefighters plays in emergency services; Lind Community Church Pastor Jeremy McClellan will talk about how we value life; and Nancy Miller will discuss the importance of medical services and hospitals.
