Geraldine E. Sommers

Geraldine E. Sommers, age 91, died on her birthday July 29, 2011, in Ritzville.

She was born to Earl S. Groves and Josephine A. Themar in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1920. She graduated high school from Chappell, Neb., in 1938.

After World War II she entered the civil service arm of the U.S. Department of Defense in Key West, Fla., on May 30, 1942, as a secretary. She traveled the world with the civil service working in places including Spain, Thailand, Saigon, Japan and French Morocco. She retired at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho on June 27, 1980, after 37 years of faithful service.
