  • Time flies

    Dale Anderson, Contributor|Updated Mar 17, 2022

Sorry about not having a column for a few weeks. I’ve had last minute commitments on the day I normally write this column therefore I miss the deadline. Oh sure I could have written it a day early but that’s not my style. If you look at the March 16 date you might not remember that it was two years ago that the world shut down for two weeks to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now 104 weeks later it seems that this state finally has decided that we are safe aga...

  • Reardan girls come back to top LRS

    Drew Lawson, The Times|Updated Feb 25, 2022

SPOKANE VALLEY-In typical Reardan fashion, the girls' loser-out game against No. 6 Lind-Ritzville/Sprague wasn't always pretty. But the senior leadership of Ayden Krupke and Madi Dewey was enough to push the girls past the Broncos 48-46 Thursday, Feb. 17 to survive and advance to the final day of the District 7 2B Tournament. LRS started off with the advantage, building a first-half lead that ballooned to as many as 11 points as Reardan was sloppy and inconsistent offensively....

  • Time for common sense

    Dale Anderson, Contributor|Updated Feb 22, 2022

I’m not sure if you saw the news this past week that showed some very young elementary school students in Nevada. These youngsters were told by their teacher that starting the very next day they would no longer have to wear masks in class. The kids started screaming with excitement and jumping up and down as if they were told that they would get to have a five hour recess and only two hours of education for the rest of their lives. There have been a lot of states that have lif...

SPOKANE VALLEY – Two nights ago, No. 3 Davenport was a controversial no-call away from upsetting No. 2 Colfax, advancing to the district finals and earning an automatic berth to state. But it wasn't to be, and tonight it was No. 5 Lind-Ritzville/Sprague doing the upsetting as the Broncos ended the Gorillas' season with a 65-58 victory in a District 7 2B Tournament loser-out game Thursday, Feb. 17 at West Valley High School. Drew Lawson, The Davenport Times|Updated Feb 16, 2022

Spokane Valley--The second round of the District 7 2B Tournament featured two overtime contests, mostly expected results and one surprising result that affected the outlook of the girls' bracket. • In a League of his own

    Dale Anderson, Contributor|Updated Feb 15, 2022

It was quite a week for EWU Eagle alum Cooper Kupp. He earned the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award on Friday and on Sunday he was instrumental in rallying the Los Angeles Rams to a Super Bowl victory and came away with the Most Valuable Player of the game trophy. There are a lot of people that wanted the Cincinnati Bengals to break through to finally win their first Super Bowl. The last two times the Bengals were playing in the big game I was hoping they would win as...

  • Is that all there is?

    Dale Anderson, Contributor|Updated Feb 8, 2022

Trying to find a great sporting event to watch on Sunday was not easy. Sure there were a few college basketball games that were televised but I can’t say there was one team that I hoped would win and to me that is half the reason for watching. The other half wants to watch great athletes play the game. I must have watched less than five minutes of the Pro Bowl which is the NFL version of an All-Star game. This game used to be played the week after the Super Bowl but since s...
