Closer to home Boise State also let their coach go and he was a former BSU Bronco player First of all let’s just say that coaches are fired a lot and this far into the season usually means that the donors, fans and alumni are...

Athletic competition is interesting because it focuses on building to a team’s strengths but during competition a team tries to find the other team’s weakness. Once that weakness is found it will be exploited. It also seems that when that team that has been doing good comes up against an opponent that finds those weaknesses then every team they face after that will try the same tactics and if the team doesn’t change their game then their life will become miserable. Now I’m n...

Well, it looks like the last of the warm weather will be leaving us until spring. We always seem surprised, but we shouldn’t be. Once October is past the midway point, we should expect the warmth of the sun to go away. Oh sure, we’ll have a day or two that will be enjoyable. But for the most part, it’s time to find a jacket to wear or reacquaint yourself to the layered look. We will soon be watching the World Series. By the time you read this, the teams should be decid...

There are a few expressions when we talk about getting older. One is ‘It’s hell getting old!’ Another is ‘Getting old ain’t for sissies.’ I happen to like the second one a lot because so many of us complain on a daily basis that we have aches and pains and we’re tired and cranky. We hate our birthdays because it just means that we are getting older. When my mom was a live she used to say that she loved her birthday because my wife and I would take her to dinner or lunch; my...

Kids graduate or injuries will knock out a quality athlete but the position needs a replacement National signing day has become a big deal where a 4-5...
EWAN — Rock Lake will receive 27,000 rainbow trout this fall, courtesy of the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
