I have heard about an issue that is greatly disturbing. Some boy who was sent to Washtucna because he had been a problem somewhere else bought a tazer. Then he tazed three students. At the June meeting of H.E. Gritman Senior Center Board it was approved by majority a motion to opt out of the Second Harvest Food Program at this time. The four-day garage/rummage sale for The Ritz Theater, held at the Lions Club in June, was a huge success thanks to all of your donations and purchases. As a point of clarification; I did not perform a formal inspection of Mr. Oestreich’s 202 West Main property because this issue is not regulated by the Adams County Health Department. As a parent, volunteer youth coach and community member, it was a sad and disappointing day when our school bond failed to pass. A school is the heart of a community and the window into a community. Failing to pass the bond will have negative short and long term repercussions. I understand not wanting to increase taxes but if WE cannot invest in our own community, how do we expect someone else to? Letter carriers walk through the community everyday, often coming face to face with a sad reality for too many, hunger. The corner of Eighth and Chelan is an accident waiting to happen. Today it did. It could have been much worse, fortunately there were no pedestrians at the time. Several times every day we see cars speeding through this intersection, failing to yield, failing to stop. The speeders are students as well as parents.
