    WASHTUCNA – Teachers were honored every day last week for Teachers Appreciation Week, Principal Michael Amend reported. On Monday, teachers arrived at their buildings via a red carpet walk, with the theme "Our teachers are stars." Tuesday celebrated May the Fourth with "Our teachers are Jedi masters."     Thirty-two dancers of all ages from Karen Kinch's Mixed Attitudes Dance classes performed "Dance Candyland" at the airport hangar in Ritzville Friday, April 30.     RITZVILLE – In an article titled "Vandals damage Storywalk, tag locations in town," in last week's issue of The Journal, Ritzville Police Officer Matt Carlson was quoted crediting Public Works Employee Ned Bernath with cleaning up vandalism on the Storywalk. The Journal has since learned that Ritzville Drug Co. employee Jessica Kidwell beat Bernath to the clean-up.     RITZVILLE – Sign-up for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 has been reopened as part of the Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency announced. The initial sign-up ended Dec. 11, 2020, but USDA has reopened it for at least 60 days beginning April 5, 2021, for producers to apply or make modifications to existing applications.     RITZVILLE – A local veteran was assisted with remaining mobile when several fellow veterans built a 22-foot wheelchair ramp on the side of his house. VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Commissioner Jeff Kissler said he and Mike Mills and Bill Sager were able to purchase the lumber from a Caring Neighbors Grant from Big Bend Electric.     LIND - The Lions Club hid over 1,000 eggs in the city park for their annual Easter Egg Hunt. The playground in the park was taped off into four categories: ages 1-3, Preschool and Kindergarten, Grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and Grades 4th, 5th and 6th.
