    Frances M. Manke, 94, died June 4 at Claire Bridge (Brookdale Assisted Living) in Spokane. Frances and her twin sister, Virginia, were born in Ritzville, on March 19, 1922, to Conrad and Katie (Becker) Hein. She attended Odessa, Ritzville and Harrington grade schools and graduated from Harrington High School in 1941. Frances married Harold Manke on Nov. 19, 1944.     With the beginning of warm weather comes the end of school. The Ritzville Public Library has planned a packed summer to provide activities for local children to remain entertained. The free reading program will kick off the summer. This year it is themed “On Your Mark, Get Set… Read!” to tie in with the Summer Olympics.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos tennis team competed in the first day of the District Tournament on May 7. The LRS team now has five athletes moving on to compete in the second day of the tournament on May 14. Head Coach Liz Melville said all of the LRS athletes performed extremely well at Districts. In the past matches, the team has had varied success, but the No. 1 singles players for the Broncos remain undefeated in league competition.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague golf team had one match cancelled last week due to weather but were able to compete in a non-league match in St. John on March 24. In the boys division Colfax, Pomeroy, Dayton, Odessa-Harrington, Tekoa-Rosalia, St. John and LRS were all present. Colfax took the boys medal during this match. Michael Shields earned 41 strokes followed by Ryan Frederick with 50, Morgan Brausen with 51 and Pake Taylor put up 58 strokes.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos golf team stepped onto the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course for the first match of the season on Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. and hosted the Colfax Bulldogs and the Inchelium Hornets.
