  • Four arrested in drive-by shooting

    On Dec. 14, at about 12 p.m., the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting that occurred on the 2200 block of West Cunningham Road. Four suspects fled the scene in a maroon, Dodge SUV according to Sheriff Doug Barger. The suspects were stopped by Grant County deputies, on Highway 17, near Moses Lake. Three male juveniles ages 14, 16 and 17, and one 18-year-old, Yajairo Calzada, were taken into custody. All four suspects are from the Royal City area, and have known gang affiliation.   • Wrong-way driver injured on I-90

    A Washington State Patrol trooper responded to an early morning accident on Dec. 17, which occurred 20 miles west of Ritzville. A car travelling the wrong direction on I-90 caused the accident and drugs or alcohol were reportedly a factor. The 22-year-old, David Palmieri, from Medical Lake had been travelling eastbound in westbound lanes when he drove onto the shoulder, lost control of his car and hit a semi truck. Palmieri was transported to Sacred Heart by ambulance and his car was totaled and impounded at the scene....

  • The Season of Giving

    The Giving Tree effort was once again a huge success as community members made it a great Christmas for 25 area families with donations of gifts for children up to ages 18 and even some senior citizens this year.   • Burglaries, thefts on the rise in county’s rural areas

    Nearly $130,000 in property thefts were reported in the eastern portion of Adams County between July 1 and Nov. 28 of this year. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has been busy trying to deal with 30 incident reports during that time, including 17 burglaries and 13 thefts. The difference is that a theft occurs when something is taken off private property that is not stored in a building.     Lind Community Church welcomed new pastor Jeremy McLellan to the church earlier his year. McLellan and his family moved from Sandy Valley, Nev., to Lind during the end of July.     The LaCrosse-Washtucna Lady Tigercats had a busy and overall successful week, winning two of the three games they competed in.     The wrestling team took eight wrestlers to Liberty for a tournament on Saturday, Dec. 10. The tournament was set up a little different with wrestlers grouped into four- or five-man groups. It was a round robin format with everyone in the group wrestling each other.   • 2011 Museums accomplishments noted

    4 was a good year for the local museums. Both the Burroughs’ Home and the Railroad Depot museums drew visitors from all over the United States and foreign countries. Visitors numbered near 700 at the Depot and an additional 300 at the Burroughs’ Home. Visitors came from 32 states and from Canada, Germany and Mongolia.
