  • 4-H clubs go geocaching

    Lien Hollenback, Reporter|Updated Dec 10, 2015

On the afternoon of November 28 the Birds of Play and Cool Threads 4-H clubs went geocaching. We started in Washtucna and went to the Little Goose Dam area where we found 4 different geocaches. Two of them we repaired so others could find them and left 4-H geo tokes in the maxi-caches that we found. We stopped at the Dam and viewed the fish. We then went to Lyons Ferry Fish Hatchery and had a wonderful tour. Did you know it is the 3rd largest in the state? We didn’t. We had fun feeding the fish. The tour was given by Mr. G...

  • Responding to constituent questions on wildfires, carbon rules, national security

    Updated Dec 10, 2015

Constituents from across Central Washington regularly contact me with questions and comments on federal issues through phone calls and letters to my office, emails, and even Facebook. I recently held a telephone town hall to take calls because hearing firsthand from constituents is how I can best represent Central Washington in Congress. A single question may represent the views of many, so here is a sample summarizing questions and comments I have recently received: Comment from a constituent from Coulee Dam: We need to log... Full story

  • Candidates should address over-spending

    Updated Dec 10, 2015

The debates are about over and they will soon be forgotten except for the Liberal Moderators. The red party has too many “wannabes” and the blues needed more. The reds are turning it into a three person race. They need to have Iowa point them in the right direction, as our White House has lost the tone to be convincing at a precarious time. Bernie appears like he would like to be Hillary’s vice president. His conscientious objector stance will not get him elected. Hillary’s baggage could possibly force Mr. Biden to be a la...

The good news is timely releases of stored water from reservoirs like Lake Roosevelt behind Grand Coulee Dam kept stream levels up and water temperatures down. That helped young salmon migrate to the ocean and adults return home to spawn. Overall, 2.3 million mature salmon passed through Bonneville Dam, making it the second strongest year on record for the entire Columbia Basin. The return numbers were positive upstream as well. According to the East Ore...

    Katelin Davidson|Updated Dec 10, 2015

The LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus Lady Tigercats traveled to compete with College Place in the first game of the season on Dec. 4. The game is a nonleague match up, but the Lady Tigercats will face College Place once more this season.
