The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ to broadcast the 2B Championship Football game on Saturday, Dec. 7, when the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos take on Morton-White Pass for the trophy. For the 15th year, the Lind Chamber of Commerce is inviting local residents to join in the festivities surrounding the annual Christmas Parade in Lind on Saturday, Dec. 8, with activities beginning at 3 p.m. This year, the Lind Lions Club is assisting in the efforts to help increase the amount of activities at the event. Vendors are gearing up for the 40th annual Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by AAUW, on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Ritzville Grade School. The 83rd annual Ralston Grange Christmas Party is being held on Sunday, Dec. 15, to kickoff the holiday season with a celebration at the Ralston Grange Hall. The Starbuck/Lyons Ferry Marina KOA Campground has been awarded the 2014 KOA President’s Award by Kampgrounds of America (KOA), the world’s largest system of family-friendly campgrounds. A minor injury collision involving a tour bus on Dec. 1 left westbound I-90 nine miles west of Ritzville partially blocked for over an hour. The Ritzville Public Library is one of seven libraries in Adams and Lincoln counties that now has extra materials on their shelves because of a grant administered by the Washington State Library. The Connecting Libraries through Resource Sharing grant program has provided $5,000 for the seven public libraries. Washington State Patrol Trooper Dean Burt was injured in traffic accident on State Route 395 on Saturday morning when another vehicle slid across the roadway and struck the WSP cruiser while it was parked on the shoulder of the roadway. This is the second time in two years where Trooper Burt’s cruiser has been struck in an accident and he has been transported to the hospital with injuries. The girls’ basketball teams are doing exceptional. They’ve won all of their games so far! There are two teams this year, A-team and B-team. Steve Nygren and Rita Fryberger are this year’s coaches. Mr. Nygren coaches the A team. The girls played Liberty last Monday and won 30-16! Mr. Nygren said, “The girls were on a roll in the second half and never looked back.
