  • Welcome to My Kitchen

Cookie exchange and gift giving season is here. The day before Thanksgiving I enjoyed helping a group of students make and deliver cookie plates. One recipe we used, Grandma’s Drop Sugar Cookies is a bit unusual. The dough is very, very soft, almost runny, like thick glaze. This is a great recipe to make when kids want to make sugar cookies but you don’t have time to deal with the cookie cutters and rolling pin mess. Grandma’s Drop Sugar Cookies 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp...

“When you been maturinatin’ ‘long as I have, they’s a few ultimatum facts about life that jest can’t be ignored,” With that, our favorite old-time camp cook, mule packer and occasional predictor of things that haven’t happened yet, Windy Wilson, stirred the sugar in his coffee and looked at the rest of us. Wisely. Well, as wisely as old Windy ever gets. We knew we were in for another dose of campfire education, even if it’s totally wrong. We smiled. Some people need cable TV to find this kind of fun. “Like them measurementals...

The last weekend of the NCAA football regular season was really quite interesting to say the least. There were a ton of upsets that would have eliminated a few teams from the championship playoff had it only been four teams but now that it is 12 teams it will only affect where teams will be seeded. Sure there’s a team or two that may have played themselves out of it and into a lesser bowl game but they will get to play another game. It was rivalry Saturday for a lot of t...
