    Roger Harnack, Franklin Connection|Updated Dec 6, 2021

And it means that the maps previously submitted by the commission will likely be the establishing documents for new legislative and congressional districts. If the maps are retained, Franklin and Adams Counties will be split...

  • That really did happen

    Dale Anderson, Contributor|Updated Nov 30, 2021

To say the least it was an amazing weekend. No, I didn’t do any Christmas shopping because I don’t want to start something I can’t pay for. No, the sports world gods decided that the traditional last weekend of the football season should have a new winner this year. It started on Friday late afternoon in Seattle when WSU defeated the UW Huskies 40-13. To be honest it wasn’t that close. The Huskies started another Huard at quarterback but the young freshman threw 4 interce...

  • Ignoring debt is not an option

    Don C. Brunell, Contributor|Updated Nov 30, 2021

Remember the television ad where the auto mechanic looks viewers straight in the eye and says: “You can pay me now or pay me later!” The message: if you change your car’s oil and filter every 5,000 miles, you can avoid a disastrous engine replacement later? The same principle applies to our national debt. Congress can either take steps to control spending and debt now, or watch interest payments swallow up our hard-earned tax dollars and starve needed programs. Ignoring massi...

  • State is painting lipstick on long-term-care law

Elizabeth Hovde, Washington Policy Center|Updated Nov 30, 2021

Starting in January, the unpopular law imposes a stiff new tax of 58 cents per $100 earned for every W2 worker in the state, with no income cap...
